The Debaucheries of a Son

The History of the Place

In the heart of Carcassonne's streets, our story is rooted in the complex and passionate tales of the early 15th century. A fragment of family memory that still resonates today.

Tumultuous Origins

It all began in the 15th century with Jean Ricardou, a merchant and cloth maker, whose fate was marked by a singular family challenge: a son whose libertine behavior led the father to request his confinement. This story reveals the social and family tensions of an era where honor and reputation dictated decisions. From a non-noble background, Jean Ricardou managed to rise through his commercial success. Eager to assert his social ascent and inscribe his name in stone, he had a tower built—a powerful gesture at a time when only the powerful could afford such constructions. This tower became a symbol of his success, wealth, and desire to mark his territory and era.

A Living Architectural Heritage

Every stone, every facade—like that of 31 rue Aimé Ramond—tells more than just a story of a building. These walls are silent witnesses to complex family destinies, generational tensions, traditions, and transformations.

Transmission and Resilience

Despite controversies and challenges, this lineage has endured through the decades. A story of resilience, adaptability, and deep connection to a history-rich territory. Today, we continue to write this story, honoring these roots while looking towards the future.

TOWN HALL

Town Hall

Literally across from La Parerie, the Carcassonne Town Hall is an integral part of the local landscape and history.

Installed in the former private mansion of Rolland—a family of notable drapers—it is today a place of administrative and heritage life. Its elegant facade, inner courtyard, and monumental staircase testify to the prestige of this 18th-century building.
